Hi Everyone,
Cush here and it is my turn to keep you up to date with the team happenings this week.
During the week it was training as normal, including hard conditioning sessions prescribed from our fitness trainer Stephen and team netball training sessions. On Wednesday afternoon we had added extras attend our training session when we visited the Kapiti coast. We trained at the nice brand new Kapiti college gym and local netball enthusiast young and old came along to watch as we played a men’s team in a practice game. Then to finish off the supporters all joined in with the team for the warm down and mixed in amongst us to get to know us better.
This week’s game verse the Thunderbirds was our second home game of the season, first at Wellington City TSB Arena. After a couple of tough away games I looked forward to playing a game on our home turf. I always prefer playing at home because we get huge support from all of you at the game. It does not matter where we play in our grand region the people in the stands always make it feel like home for our team. Trust me it helps especially when it gets tough out there.
The momentum of the game never swung in our favour, as we found ourselves up against a quality team (as they all are in the ANZ championship) who played a great game with very few errors. All games are a tough contest, but when you find yourself playing a team where everything is going right for them it makes it even harder to disrupt their flow and gain the upper hand.
Looking forward to the week to come the team is still on the job, working on fixing the areas that are rusty as well as keeping the great skills and team play that is working in the game. We have a few extra days this week to lift and polish the team performance as our next game is on Monday (26th April) at home verses the Southern Steel.
So see you all at the next game,
Cush
