Kia ora Pulse Fans,
Jamilah AKA Jimmy here and I am giving you a glimpse into the Pulse teams world during the ANZ Championships of Round 4.
This week we went to Sydney to play our first Australian team the Sydney Swifts. Since our last game was on Monday and this game was on Saturday (in a different country) we had a very short turn-around. Which means that we didn't have a lot of time to train before we had to travel.
We only had one day of training on Thursday, where we had conditioning in the morning with our trainer Stephen and then had a practice netball game against the Wellington men. We came out firing against the men's team, we were keen to show ourselves and each other how good we could play. We finished the game happy about our performance and excited about the upcoming game vs the Swifts.
After the 6:35am flight to Sydney on Friday morning we had a training run at the match venue before being given some free time to either relax, shop or catch up with friends and family.
GAME DAY: After a good warm-up, we started the game against the Swifts with a bang! In the first half we were dominating the court with our attack and our team defense was interrupting their flow. We stuck to our game plan, put pressure on the Swifts and we caused 20 Swift turnovers in the first half!!!
This helped with the score being in our favor. HALF TIME SCORE: 25-22 Pulse.
However the second half we didn't always stick to the plan. The Swifts became more hungry for the ball and wanted the win badly, unfortunately our game became a bit disjointed and we didn't work as well together, because of this the Swifts ensured that they scored off our mistakes. The Pulse players that got on court played hard and unfortunately the final score was not in our favor.
FINAL SCORE: 36-50 Swifts.
After starting the week with a video analysis session, we are all looking forward to playing the Adelaide Thunderbirds and to get our first win of this season! We are playing Saturday the 17th April at 2pm and we are hoping to see hoards of Haier Pulse fans there to support and cheer us onto victory. See you at the game =)
This is Jimmy and I am signing out.
